Features of Great Yamaha Keyboards for Beginners

Some things that most beginners look for in a Yamaha Keyboard is price, weighted keys and learning features. The Yamaha P-95 is a great Yamaha keyboards for beginners because of the price and weighted keys. It's one of the best keyboards you can get with weighted keys for well under $1,000. There is a full 88 keys that are hammer-action weighted so it feels like a real piano. Most piano teachers require weighted keys.

If you aren't required to have weighted keys or if you want to learn the piano on your own and have a small budget, the YPG-235 is a great Yamaha keyboard for beginners. First of all, this Yamaha keyboard comes with the Yamaha Education Suite. It's a CD-Rom of beginner piano lessons with several levels. Some of the learning features on the actual keyboard for beginners are:

Weighting mode will stop the playback of a song until you can find the note that comes next. Tempo mode will get an average of your speed when learning a new song and will maintain that average speed so you can get your rhythm down. Minus mode will play a song at the normal speed except for the part you have chosen to play. Lesson grading will monitor your progress and actually give you a grade on how well you are doing. Repeat and Learn will move a song back four measures at the push of a button so you can get that section down perfectly. The Chord Dictionary shows you how to play chords and tells you the chords you are playing.

The YPG-235 is a great Yamaha keyboard for beginners except that it does not have fully weighted keys. It's a 76 key keyboard with graded soft touch. There is some resistance in the keys but it's just not considered fully weighted. It's great for portability. Put some batteries in and go.

If you have any questions about other Yamaha keyboards for beginners, you can give our staff at the Piano Gallery a call at 1-800-600-9710.
