Weighted Keyboard

Weighted Keyboard

Info on Weighted Keyboards

Get the lowest prices on the top trusted brands for a weighted keyboard. Keyboards with weighted keys that feel like a grand piano will have hammer-action weighted keys.

What is a weighted keyboard?

A weighted keyboard refers to the keys of the keyboard. If the keys have resistance when pushing them down, like an acoustic piano, than this means it's a weighted keyboard. These keyboards used to be expensive and in only large heavy digital pianos but you can get a cheap weighted keyboard.

Weighted keyboards now are coming with hammer-action weighted keys. Hammer action is almost exactly what real acoustic piano keys feel like. Not only is there weight to the keys, but you can feel a change in resistance when pressing the key half way down. You can feel the mechanics of the moving parts in a piano. This is what digital piano manufacturers are producing. The goal is to get the exact feel and sound of an acoustic upright piano or even a grand piano in an inexpensive digital piano or keyboard that you don't have to tune.

Not only do modern weighted keyboards have hammer-action weighted keys but they are also graded weighted. Graded weighted means there is more resistance in pressing down the digital piano keys in the bass than when playing in the treble. The reason for this is you want more powerful booming sound in the bass and the notes in the treble are often quick fast notes that need to be played easily.

Some of the best weighted keyboard brands are Yamaha, Roland and Casio. You can get a Casio weighted keyboard for around $600 when a few years ago you couldn't get this technology for under $1,000.

Weighted keyboards just keep getting better. Sounds and feel of keyboards almost can't get any better. View some of our weighted keyboards at the lowest prices allowed online with free shipping and no sales tax. You can't get better than that!
